This abstract work from the Journey to Russia series is connected to the feeling of fear and inner tension experienced while crossing the border. The repeating rectangular forms evoke control checkpoints, border corridors, inspection windows, and an enclosed space that must be passed through.

The contrast of black, white, and gray conveys anxious anticipation, uncertainty, and a sense of the unknown. Sharp lines, scratches, and uneven edges reflect the tense thoughts that arise before a document check: Will I be allowed through? Will they ask questions? What will happen next? The central gray space is perceived as a moment of pause — a state in which a person waits for a decision and cannot fully control the situation.

The painting expresses not only the physical act of crossing the border, but also an inner transition between past and present, the familiar and the unfamiliar, safety and anxiety. Within the “Journey to Russia” series, this work becomes a symbol of the fear of returning and the emotional tension that accompanies the journey to a place once called home.

  • Journey to Russia

This original abstract artwork from the Journey to Russia series is created on a gallery-wrapped canvas. Cement-based tile mortar, spray paints, and professional acrylic paints were used to build rich layers, raised textures, and a striking three-dimensional surface.

The sides of the canvas are fully painted black, allowing the artwork to be displayed beautifully without a frame. The canvas is 1.5 inches deep, giving the piece a substantial, modern presence on the wall. It arrives ready to hang, making installation simple and convenient.

The artwork is finished with a satin varnish that enhances the colors with a soft, refined sheen while also providing protection. It is created using professional-grade acrylic paints on high-quality canvas, ensuring durability and long-lasting vibrancy.

The painting is signed by the artist on the front and also signed and dated on the back, confirming its authenticity. A Certificate of Authenticity is included with every original painting.

Please note that colors may appear slightly different in person due to variations in screen settings and lighting conditions.
