I created this painting after experiencing intense physical pain. In moments like that, the way we normally experience life changes—many things suddenly fade into the background, while our own vulnerability becomes especially clear.

When I returned to the canvas, I did not want to depict the pain itself, but rather to express how that experience had passed through me. That is why intersecting, almost cross-like forms appeared in the composition. For me, they became a symbol of what I had lived through—a trace of pain moving through the space of the painting and through my life.

The contrasting dark and light areas reflect tension and fear, but also moments of clarity that can come after a difficult experience. This work became a reflection on how fragile life can be and how quickly our perception of the familiar world can change.

That is why I called this painting “Fragility.”
